Task: For use in Malmo, HOE360 Consulting developed a design line and bike rack specifically for cargo bikes at the three newly built train stations. The focus was especially put on a behavioural design, to ensure optimal use by cargo bike users. Part of the assignment consisted of planning and conducting workshop for Malmo city as well as coordination with other parts of the station buildings.
Value Creation: The special design, which was created in a process of Malmö's traffic office, enables parking optimized for cargo bikes, which was a dire need. The stand provides example moderate chance of jamming. The design is crafted in a way that complicates the parking of ordinary bicycles. These users may therefore be more appropriate to use the traditional bicycle parking racks.
Background: The described design concept was developed in the construction of three new train stations on the connection between Copenhagen and Malmo, where all three stations were established bicycle parking.
