International best practice study
Task: With the two British firms Urban Movement and Phil Jones Associates as lead and HOE360 Consulting as the adviser a competitive tender by Transport for London was won on the drafting of an international benchmarking study concerning bicycle infrastructure in 14 cities around the world.
Creating value: When comparing London's approach to bicycle solution designs to other cities such as Berlin, Brighton & Hove, Cambridge, Christchurch, Dublin, Lund & Malmo, Minneapolis, Munich, Nantes, New York, Seville, Stockholm Utrecht and Washington DC, we achieved basis for Transport for London could mirror their ideas and plans for London, thereby ensuring optimization of their cycling performance.
Background: To meet the London Mayor's vision for cycling demanded among other things the use of tried and tested techniques from around the world in relation to the London context, but continued permissible scope for innovation. The study led to a better understanding of what constitutes good and successful cycling infrastructure, safety and culture.
